It is often said that the internet marketing process is part science and part art and this helps explain why no two marketers' results are ever exactly the same. While it is impossible to predict the results of any given strategy there are a number of things you should do which will give you the best possible chance of success. Many of these methods are either free or low-cost so it makes sense to take advantage of these techniques from the outset.

Send regular newsletters to your list to keep them informed of your latest offers and new products. Also ensure that you include tips and advice so you are seen as an expert in your niche and not just someone who wants to milk your customer base for every possible sale going. The newsletter should help build up a relationship between you and your list.
Keep in contact with your list by regular emails. Never be tempted to ignore your customers for weeks or months at a time or only ever contact them when you have something to sell. Build up a relationship and then sell them products.

All the above strategies are easy to do, don't require a large marketing budget, and need not be too time consuming either. You don't have to do them all but if you use them then you should seek to continue using them on a regular basis. For example you don't have to market affiliate products or contribute to forums if you don't want to but you really should build back-links and keep in regular e-mail contact with your customers and do both activities throughout your marketing career.
