Is it true or just an urban myth?  Well actually it’s true for a huge number of plantar wart sufferers, and even comes with the backing of many family doctors.  The NHS in the UK recomends the use of duct tape as a viable home treatment for warts.

At the present time there is no know treatment to100% guarantee a cure for the virus which causes plantar warts but the symptoms (warts) will often respond to some rather odd ball treatments.  Treating your plantar wart with duct tape is just one of the more insane yet effective alternative methods you can try at home.

What is the procedure for removing your warts with duct tape?

Things to note when trying to remove your plantar wart with duct tape is that it will not be effective overnight but requires a daily routine over several weeks. If you have sensitive skin it would ideal to test a strip of duct tape on your skin to ensure that you don’t get any negative reaction.

You will need some good old grey duct tape and an emery board or pumice.

Duct Tape Method:

1. Start by throughly cleaning the plantar wart, soaking in a warm water to soften the rough wart.

2. Using a pumice or preferably an emery board gently remove the rough callous around the surface of the wart, make sure that you don’t break the skin. * only use the these tools for your wart and never use on any other bidy parts to help prevent the spread of warts.

3. At this stage you can apply some witch hazel or tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar.

4. Apply a piece of duct tape over the wart ensuring that the wart is completely covered.

5. Re-apply a fresh piece of duct tape everyday and continue with daily soaking and removal of rough skin.

As the wart dies it may change colour and eventually dries up.  Once the wart is removed there is the possibility that another wart may appear in its place.

Eliminate Plantar Warts in Future

To help eliminate the recurrence of plantar wart you should try to follow a few simple rules.

Boost your immune system with healthy fresh fruit and veg, perhaps take immune boosting suppliments like ecinacea.
Take extra care when in areas the virus can be transferred for example swimming pools and communal showers.  You should ideally keep your feet covered, use pool shoes and sandals.
Never share socks or shoes with another person as the moist conditions of the feet are a breeding ground for the virus which causes plantar warts.

Remember that the key to the success of treating your plantar warts with duct tape is to be consistent and repeat the process daily. If you have tried and failed using this method there are many more home treatments available and some very good products on the the market to make plantar wart removal as painless as possible.  There is no need to suffer in silence.
